Frequent Questions on Baptism
1.When do baptisms take place?
The normal time for baptism in our parish are 2pm on a Sunday. The Priest will let you know what dates are available when you meet with him. The service begins promptly so please do make sure that you and all your guests are in church in good time.
2. How many god-parents should there be?
The minimum number is one. We know that choosing god-parents can sometimes be tricky if somebody in the family is likely to be upset if not asked, so it is can be possible to have more than three god-parents.
3. Who can be a god-parent?
God-parents must themselves have been baptised Catholics and should be practicing their faith each week. They must be at least sixteen years old and they must be aware of the responsibilities they are to undertake. If you have any concerns please speak with the priest.
4. How much does a Baptism cost?
This is Sacerment can't be bought so there is no charge for a Baptism. But it is customary to make a donation in thanksgiving to support the upkeep and the work of church . This can be handed to the priest at the practice Baptism or on the day.
5. What happens If do not live in St Austins Parish
It normal practice for you to contact your Parish Priest where you live to make arrangements for your child to be baptised there.
