Walsingham Society
The Stafford Walsingham Association draws its membership from the three Catholic parishes in Stafford:- Saint Anne's, Saint Patrick's and Saint Austin's. The aim is to continue to make known Our Lady's Shrine at Walsingham- one of the oldest Marian shrines in Europe. It was founded in the 11th Century by the Lady of the Manor. Our Lady appeared and gave instructions that a house was built to correspond with the Holy House at Nazareth. Countless pilgrims have made their way to "England's Nazareth" over the centuries.
The Association meets at Saint Austin's Church every two months for a varied programme following a Mass of Our Lady at 7pm. The annual pilgramage to Walsingham usually numbers about 50 people and has become the highlight of the year.
